Several owners describe detailed, practical communication and support—such as phone updates during hospital care and being told they could call any time for an update. One reviewer describes the practice as “independent,” but this isn’t confirmed by the clinic data provided. Reviews conflict on cost/decision-making: some say the team “work with you” on finances and don’t feel pushy, while one reviewer felt diagnostics were pushed and became expensive without clear answers.

All my cats are registered here and I wouldn’t go anywhere else! 6 months or so ago I had my male cat (Pumpkin) neutered with Ampthill vets and they were incredible then, then I had an emergency with a kitten I had from a litter and Sarah was incredible dealing with that, although sadly little Ash did pass away despite Sarah’s incredible efforts to give him the best chance possible. Most recently one of my female cats (Oreo) got into an accident and had a nasty leg injury. The team have been absolutely outstanding in their care for her and today she unfortunately had to have her leg amputated. The care she received was incredible, and the communication with Sarah was amazing. She called me to keep me updated when there were updates , and reassured me that I could absolutely call at any point whilst Oreo was there if I felt like I needed or even just wanted an update. I haven’t felt rushed by them whatsoever, and my financial situation at current isn’t the best so Sarah and the team have been so incredibly helpful in making it as easy as possible and with minimal stress surrounding the finances of it all. Truly if you want a vet that doesn’t feel pushy and money grabbing, Ampthill vets is the one. They work WITH you so your pet gets the upmost best care possible whilst still finding a feasible solution for paying. You can tell they all truly care so deeply for the animals and thats so lovely! Huge huge thank you to the entire team for everything you’ve all done so far for Oreo!

Great vet practice, whilst the cats will never love it, they are always well treated and it's a good partnership with me as the owner. Love it.

The most amazing caring and compassionate practice i have come across both in the surgery itself where everyone is cheerful, friendly and clearly loves animals and last week when I sadly had to put my eldest dog Ollie to sleep. Mei and Laura were amazing, came to our house, nothing rushed, very respectful throughout and very compassionate. A handwritten card and some forget-me-not seeds came from Sarah and the team. Wouldn't go anywhere else now.

Not a good experience here. I took my cat here for help and treatment , she was poorly we found she had some kind of tumor they wouldn’t say what it was and for us to find out it would of cost the earth . We then decided to go for a scan the guy that come in to do the scan said it would be ideal for her to have some fluid drained she did and it made her worse , even though she was unwell anyway when we got home she really deteriorated, after having the fluids drained she was walking to one side and her breathing was actually worse . They knew she didn’t have long left but still said she could have the scan and knowing that this could have made her worse . Sarah advised us to have the fluid sent off to have sampled but then said not sure if they’ll be back in time before she passes so I said why am I going to waste money sending them off if you think she’ll die anyway , this vets only want your money , at first I thought they really cared about animals but they don’t ! They pushed forward for us to have a scan because they wanted the money but in the same breath new Missy was going to die . All we wanted was answers and we never got answers there was no solution or help there was only help if we was willing to pay lots of money I feel there could of been more done . There very nice to you if you have the money to pay . Sarah asked me on the spot do I want Missy put to sleep why would I want to do that , she deserved to be at home in her comfort with me , she offered this because she wanted more money . Missy died in my arms the night after, this was how she wanted to leave the world not around strangers in a cold room. We have wasted so much money in this vets just be careful and be cautious!

The most friendliest and professional veterinary centre we have ever had our dog registered with. Have seen all 3 vets and they are all lovely. They treat my dog with the utmost care and attention and have time for you and your pet, you never feel rushed. They never come across as just trying to make money out of you, your pets welfare is at the heart of what they do. It's so lovely to still have local independent vets and the difference here to other clinics stands out. Highly recommend!

I recently moved over from the U.S. with my wife, daughter, and 2 large Mastiffs (Millie and Oakley.) After arriving, I wanted to find a Vet to get them registered at for any event that would require healthcare. I tried other vets in the area but felt that the care was subpar compared to what we had in the U.S. Oakley started to develop a swollen front leg and I started checking around for Vets in the area that I hadn’t already tried. I was able to get in touch with Ampthill Vets. I’m so glad we did. The staff are professional and compassionate. They are knowledgeable and very fair on pricing. Unfortunately, it was discovered that Oakley had developed a very aggressive form of bone cancer and her time to go had come so quickly after the diagnosis. It was a very hard time for our family but was made much easier thanks to everyone at Ampthill Vets. I can’t thank them all enough for how well they treated Oakley and our family. I highly recommend Ampthill Vets because I can say confidently they are the best Veterinary clinic I have ever taken any animal too. We will forever cherish our moments as a family with Oakley.
